2) Seeking Experienced Reporter – Satyamev jayate is seeking a reporter who is able to marry strong traditional journalism skills – source building, sharp interviewing techniques, strong analytical and investigative reporting skills, clear writing, document use – with online and social media know-how. Whatever the platform, reporters will produce content – original and curated – that is accompanied by perspective and context. Beat available at this time is health care and technology.
Duties: The top mission: to own audience, by every measure. A Satyamev Jayate reporter is expected to contribute both short-form (daily online posts) , stories to our news products. Scoops matter. A lot. Specifically reporters will be expected to own their beat audience and conversation; use networking events, Twitter, LinkedIn and other community-building outlets to expand and fortify their source pool and audience; work collaboratively with other newsroom staffers to maximize impact and accessibility of stories reported; and meet or exceed goals related to audience engagement.

3) Editor – Satyamev Jayate seeks an editorial page editor who can assume a position of significant influence in both the newspaper and the community. The ideal candidate will bring her or his own vision of how the business of informed opinion is changing and will be interested in creating a model that blends the best traditions of editorial voice with present digital tools. Familiarity with rural India is a significant advantage.
Candidates must have at least a bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field and ideally five or more years of daily, production-oriented experience writing and editing opinion for a newspaper or digital platform. The ideal candidate will be able to show how her or his persuasiveness led to tangible change. We need the editorial page editor to be insatiably curious, capable of debate without rancor, possess a great sense of fairness and think critically. Like most newspapers, we seek to maintain consistency in our editorial positions over time, and will be prepared to discuss the major themes at the interview to ensure the candidate is comfortable representing the editorial board’s views.
The successful candidate will report and write seven editorials a week, manage our freelance and contributed opinion columns, letters to the editor and blogs, oversee the daily and Sunday editorial pages (design is not part of the role), and frequently represent the newspaper in the community. We see key areas of opportunity for this position in social media, tablet apps and community forums. We expect the candidate to bring an informed perspective and lengthen that list.
Must be self-motivated, enjoy multitasking, be happiest completing multiple assignments daily and have a passion for news, policy and politics. Hours include some evening meetings. Away from work, you’ll enjoy the extensive outdoor activities of playground, including hiking, biking, skiing, fishing and boating.
Skill Requirements: Must possess knowledge of libel laws as well as state and federal laws regarding open meetings, open records and access to information preferred. Must demonstrate command of style and excellent grammar. Must be able to communicate clearly and openly with other employees. Must have basic knowledge of print and web publishing tools and/or the ability to learn new technology quickly. Must proficiently use Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
Educational Requirements: Requires a BS/BA in news/media discipline or equivalent experience. Generally eight to 10 years of experience in news.
Physical Requirements: Moderate physical demands with respect to lifting; i.e. will routinely carry the tools of the trade to include a laptop computer, notebooks, maps, etc.
Must have a valid driver’s license, a good driving record, access to an automobile and possess the company’s required level of personal auto liability coverage.
