In line with the previous rumours, Apple has launched 8GB storage variant of iPhone 5C in India. While the phone’s MRP is Rs 37,500, Apple is offering a cash discount of Rs 4,000. This brings down the phone’s price to Rs 33,500.
Apple is also giving a case worth Rs 2,000 with the phone. However, it will be a limited period offer. While the duration of the offer has not been disclosed, we expect the company to continue with the discounted price to boost the sales of the phone.
Apple had first introduced the 8GB variant of iPhone 5C in UK and France under tie-ups with operators O2 and SFR. The phone was launched at 429 pounds in the UK, in March.
Apple introduced iPhone 5C with its flagship phone, iPhone 5S, last October. Apple iPhone 5C features the same 4-inch Retina display seen in iPhone 5 and almost identical internals including Apple’s A6 chipset, an 8MP rear camera with flash and a 1.2MP front-facing camera. On the outside, however, it sports a polycarbonate shell with five colour options and a glossy finish.
Incidentally, it’s not the first time that Apple is offering a low-storage version of its smartphone at reduced price. Previously, it had introduced the 8GB variants of iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S in India.
Some recent reports claimed that Apple has a large number of unsold units of iPhone 5C in its inventory due to which it has been forced to introduce the 8GB version of the phone.
