NEW DELHI: HMD Global has finally launched the much-awaited newNokia smartphones in India. The series includes three smartphones – Nokia 6, Nokia 5and Nokia 3 – priced at Rs 14,999, Rs 12,899 and Rs 9,499 respectively. The Nokia 5 will be exclusively available with offline retailers, while the Nokia 6 will be available only with Amazon India. The Nokia 3 can also be purchased from physical retail stores.
The Nokia 3 will be going on sales starting June 16, while the Nokia 5 will be available starting July 7. Nokia 6 will be up for pre-orders from July 14.
On the specifications front, the trio offer pure Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS experience and come with Google Assistant built-in. HMD Global has already confirmed the handsets will get Android O later this year or next year. The smartphones will be made in India, starting with Nokia 3. The company has also detailed its Nokia Mobile Care Centre plans. As a part of the service, the firm will be offering pick and drop service of the faulty/repaired handsets in 100 cities in addition to web chat and call support.
The Nokia 6 by HMD Global supports dual-SIM cards and has a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) resolution IPS LCD display with 2.5D curved glass coating and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.
The smartphone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor along with Adreno 505 GPU and 4GB LPDDR3 RAM. The handset comes with 4GB RAM. On the storage front, the Nokia 6 comes with an inbuilt 64GB storage, which can expanded via a microSD card up to 128GB. It is powered by a 16MP rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, Phase Detection Autofocus and f/2.0 aperture. There is also an 8MP front-facing camera with 84-degree wide angle lens and f/2.0 aperture.
The 4G LTE -supporting Nokia 6 comes with Bluetooth v4.1, GPS, USB OTG and Wi-Fi as connectivity options and packs a 3000mAh battery. The smartphone measures 154 x 75.8 x 7.8mm, has dual speakers powered by Dolby Atmos tech, 3.5mm headphone jack and a fingerprint sensor at the front on the home button.
The Nokia 5 has a 5.2-inch IPS LCD display with 720×1280 pixels resolution. The display is coated with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass. The smartphone sports a 6000-series Aluminium built and comes in four colour variants – Tempered Blue, Copper, Black and Silver. It has 2GB RAM and 16GB inbuilt storage, which can be expanded via microSD card (up to 128GB). Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 will be powering the smartphone. The Android 7.1 Nougat-based handset has a 13MP rear camera with PDAF and f/2 aperture along with an 8MP front-facing camera with 84-degree wide angle lens and f/2.0 aperture.
The Nokia 5 is backed by the same 3,000mAh battery and sports the same connectivity features as the Nokia 6.
