The much-awaitedOnePlus flagship smartphone OnePlus 5 has launched in India today. The all-new OnePlus 5 smartphone comes in two variants – 6GB RAM/64GB storage and 8GB RAM/128GB storage, priced at Rs 32,999 and 37,999 respectively. The smartphone is exclusively available onAmazon India’s website and will go on sale at 4.30 pm today.
OnePlus 5 replaces the company’s OnePlus 3T smartphone that launched in December last year at Rs 29,999. The smartphone’s base storage is 4GB.
Coming to OnePlus 5, this is the first smartphone from OnePlus to come with 8GB RAM and dual-rear camera setup. The device consists of 16MP and 20MP modules with LED flash at the back. The 16MP sensor (Sony IMX398) comes with f/1.7 aperture, which claims to offer brighter images in low-light conditions. On the other hand, the secondary 20MP telephotozoom lens comes with optical zooming functionalities and f/2.6 aperture. On the front, the smartphone retains the same 15MP selfie-shooter.
The company has also included a new Depth Effect in the camera, which blurs the background and keeps the subject in focus. The camera is also capable of recording 4K videos and slow motion videos at 120 frames per second. There is also a 16MP selfie camera with electronic image stabilisation and f/2.0 aperture.
Talking about the design, the OnePlus 5 flaunts a metal unibody design. The device is is 7.25mm slim and is lighter than its predecessor OnePlus 3T. This makes OnePlus 5 the slimmest smartphone by the company to launch so far. Made using Anodised aluminium, the OnePlus 5 comes with a ‘new’ design as compared to the OnePlus 3T . The front of the device houses a physical home button, which also doubles up as a fingerprint sensor. The right side houses the SIM card tray and power button, while the volume rockers are placed on the left side. The USB Type C charging port, speaker grille and 3.5mm audio jack are located at the button. The rear houses the dual camera and dual-LED flash along with the OnePlus logo.
The OnePlus runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat based OxygenOS 4.5 out of the box and supports dual-nano SIM cards. The new OxygenOS brings some new gesture features and is said to be lighter than before. Users can also fire up applications right from the lock screen by making screen gestures. They can switch between colour display modes as well.
The smartphone features a 5.5-inch Full HD display with 1080×1920 pixels resolution and is backed by a 3,300 mAh battery with Dash charging support. Supporting Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity along with NFC, GPS, WiFi and 4G LTE, the OnePlus 5 has a fingerprint sensor at the front below the display that is claimed to unlock the device in 0.2 seconds.
